StreamServe end of support: your options

StreamServe, later called Communications Center Enterprise (CCE), still produces invoices, statements and letters for many European organisations, especially in the Nordics and in SAP estates. Here is how to plan what comes next.

Where things stand

StreamServe is a platform to plan away from

StreamServe began in Sweden and became one of the most widely used document output platforms in Europe, often sitting behind SAP to produce invoices, order confirmations and statements. OpenText acquired it and later renamed it Communications Center Enterprise (CCE). OpenText's strategic platform for customer communications is now OpenText Communications (Exstream).

Older StreamServe releases have already reached end of support, and OpenText's own guidance points StreamServe customers towards Exstream. Check your exact release and support position with OpenText, then plan a move on your own timetable rather than under pressure.

Why waiting is risky

The longer a StreamServe estate runs, the more it depends on a few people who know how it works. Operating systems and SAP versions move on, security patches stop, and the knowledge needed to change a document becomes harder to find. A planned migration costs less than an emergency one.

Your options

Three realistic paths

Move to OpenText Communications (Exstream)

  • The usual choice for organisations already invested in OpenText
  • Keeps SAP-triggered output and high-volume batch processing
  • Adds browser-based editing, accessible PDF and new channels
  • Can be phased one document family at a time

Stay for now, or move elsewhere

  • Stay temporarily: only with a dated exit plan, documented processes and agreed support cover
  • Move to another vendor: possible, but every template is rebuilt and new skills are needed
  • Either way: start with an inventory, so the decision is based on facts
How a migration works

Phased, tested and reversible

Inventory

We document every StreamServe project, output, trigger and integration, including SAP output types.

Phase

We group documents into families, such as invoices first, then statements, and plan each phase.

Rebuild and compare

We rebuild templates in Exstream and compare output against StreamServe on real samples.

Run in parallel

StreamServe keeps running until each family has moved and been signed off.

FAQ

Questions about StreamServe

Is StreamServe the same as Communications Center Enterprise?

Yes. Communications Center Enterprise (CCE) is the later OpenText name for StreamServe.

Can we migrate one document family at a time?

Yes. Phasing by document family keeps risk low and lets StreamServe run in parallel until everything has moved.

Will our SAP integration still work?

Yes. We plan SAP-triggered output as part of the migration and test it end to end before cut-over.

Do you work in the Nordics and the rest of Europe?

Yes. We are UK-based and work with clients across the UK and Europe.
