OpenText Exstream upgrade and migration services
Move to a current, supported OpenText Communications release without changing what your customers receive. Every upgrade is proven with old-against-new output comparison before go-live.
Reasons to upgrade
Staying on an old release is a choice with a cost. These are the reasons we hear most often from UK and European teams.
Risk and support
- Older releases lose vendor support and security fixes
- Underlying infrastructure and operating system versions age out too
- Audit and resilience reviews (for example under DORA) ask for supported, documented platforms
What you gain
- Accessible PDF output options that help with the European Accessibility Act
- Better design and testing tools in current releases, including output comparison for migrations
- A clear route to cloud if and when you want it
Where you are starting from
Older Exstream releases
Version-to-version upgrades on server-based Exstream, including Design Manager and Designer projects, with a tested route to a current long-term release.
StreamServe
Common in the Nordics and across Europe. We map StreamServe projects and processes onto current OpenText Communications and rebuild what does not translate directly.
HP Exstream & Command Center
Moves from HP-era Exstream and from Command Center to current orchestration, keeping job schedules, outputs and downstream feeds intact.
How we upgrade without surprises
Inventory
Every component, version, template, job and integration, checked against current support status on the day.
Target & plan
The right target release, on-premises or cloud, with effort, risks and a cut-over plan.
Prove output
Agreed sample sets run old against new, with automated PDF comparison and business sign-off.
Cut over & support
A rehearsed go-live with a rollback route, then hypercare and handover to support.
Common questions
Which Exstream release should we move to?
It depends on your support needs, infrastructure and appetite for cloud. OpenText publishes current support status on its support site; we check it during the inventory and recommend a release line with reasons.
Will our documents look different after the upgrade?
They should not, unless you choose to change them. Font rendering and driver settings can change between releases, which is why we compare output from old and new versions before sign-off.
How long does an upgrade take?
It depends on the number of applications, templates and integrations. After the inventory we give you a plan with phases and dates rather than a guess.
Can we combine the upgrade with template clean-up?
Yes, though we usually recommend upgrading first with output unchanged, then improving templates. That keeps the testing simple and the risk low.
